Three Cups of Tea is our Berthoud by the Book 2010 selection. Here are the events being held in March and April 2010 .

2010 Program Events

All events will be held at the Berthoud Community Library.

 

Grand Finale Party:  April 23rd.
[Rescheduled from March 19th, due to inclement weather.]
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Live music, dancing, Pakistani and Afghani food, movie, and yaks! 

 

Contribute to Pennies for Peace
March 19 -  April 30

Contribute to Pennies for Peace at the Berthoud Community Library.  Pennies for Peace teaches children the rewards of sharing and working together to bring hope and educational opportunites to children in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

 

Find the Yak
March 22 — May 1

Find the yak hiding in local businesses in Berthoud, then come to the library and enter the prize drawing.  The yak will move every week.  Every time you find him you can enter the drawing.  Prizes are awarded weekly.

Listen to the Wind Story Time

Journey to Pakistan

Doctoral student Ali Kemal from Colorado State University hosts a presentation about the educational system in Pakistan.  Includes the film The Miseducation of Pakistan.

 

Pakistan: A Personal View

Berthoud resident Wynne Maggi, author of Our Women are Free , will share her personal experiences of living in a small Pakistani village.

 

Storyteller Family Night

6:30—8 pm

Storyteller Bett Kopit will share traditional stories from Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Refreshments will be served.

 

The Art of Henna Tattoos
Tuesday
April 20
6—8 pm

Teens and adults learn about Mehndi (traditional Henna temporary tattoos) and Pakistani culture.  First ten teens to register get a free Henna tattoo.  Watch the film Afghan Star, an American Idol-type TV show in Afghanistan.
